Maternity Leave Policy
Across the country, maternity leave has generally been extended to 158 days, with some regions reaching 180 days. Paternity leave is 15-30 days. During breastfeeding, mothers get 1 hour of nursing leave per day, which can be taken separately or combined.
Birth Allowance
The maternity allowance is paid based on the employee’s average monthly wage from the previous year. A natural birth is usually granted 98 days, with 15 extra days for a C-section. Each additional baby in a multiple birth adds 15 days.
Childcare Policy
The state is vigorously building a public-interest childcare service system, encouraging community-based, workplace-based, and kindergarten childcare classes. Some cities offer childcare subsidy vouchers to lower household childcare costs.
Tax Benefits
The special additional deduction for caring for children under 3 is 2,000 yuan per infant per month, shared between one or both parents.
