Maternity leave has generally been extended to 158 days nationwide, and up to 180 days in some regions. Paternity leave is 15-30 days. Maternity allowances are paid based on the employer’s average monthly wage of the previous year. The special additional deduction for childcare of children under 3 is 2,000 yuan per child per month. Localities also offer extra benefits such as parenting subsidies.
